Handling of Smart EX Services Following Full Resumption of Kyushu Shinkansen Operations
Full operations on the Kyushu Shinkansen are scheduled to resume from Friday, September 18, 2026. However, due to reduced-speed operations on some sections, there will be timetable changes and some train cancellations.
As a result, services will operate on a modified schedule that differs from the regular timetable.
Details of the operating schedule from Friday, September 18 onwards are scheduled to be announced by JR Kyushu on Monday, August 31.
Additionally, ticket sales for the Kumamoto to Kagoshima-Chuo section from Friday, September 18 onwards, which are currently suspended, will resume from 12:00（JST） on Tuesday, September 1.

For customers who have reservations including the Kyushu Shinkansen Kumamoto to Kagoshima-Chuo section made through 1-Year Advance Reservation, please be aware that when your reservation is confirmed, you may be assigned a different train or departure time than originally reserved.
Please check your confirmed reservation details and make any changes yourself as needed to suit your schedule.
For customers who have already made reservations through 1-Year Advance Reservation for travel between Sunday, September 27 and Thursday, October 1, reservation confirmations will be sent sequentially from 12:00（JST） on Tuesday, September 1.
