Handling of Smart EX Services Following Full Resumption of Kyushu Shinkansen Operations
Full operations on the Kyushu Shinkansen are scheduled to resume from Friday, September 18, 2026. However, due to reduced speed operations on certain sections, there will be schedule changes and some train cancellations.
As a result, services will operate according to a modified timetable that differs from the regular schedule.

Additionally, ticket sales for the section between Kumamoto and Kagoshima-Chuo from Friday, September 18 onwards, which had been suspended, resumed on Tuesday, September 1 at 12:00（JST）.

For customers who have reservations including the Kumamoto to Kagoshima-Chuo section on the Kyushu Shinkansen made through 1-year advance booking, when you receive confirmation of your reserved train, you may be assigned to a different train or departure time than originally reserved.
Please check the details of your confirmed reservation and make any changes yourself as needed to suit your schedule.
